When overhauling the cylinder-head assembly, replacing as many of the wear items as possible with new parts will simplify the reassembly and subsequent adjustments required to set up the valve-timing and clearances correctly.
Performance will be returned to factory-fresh levels, oil consumption will reduced and the engine will run more smoothly and with less mechanical "chatter" from the cylinder-head.
