The main enemy of throttle body assemblies and their ancillary components that come into contact with fuel is cheap petrol - the cut price fuel one can buy generally at supermarkets - that is fact.
If you wish to avoid contamination and varnishing then use top quality fuels with inhibitors and cleansing agents already added to the higher octane petrol. Shell V-Power, BP Ultra and other proprietary brands that offer such products.
This problem is particularly noticeable after the machine has been laid up for the winter months with old fuel sitting in the system.
If however you are already at the stage where a thorough clean and, where required, new replacement parts need to be installed then this component and perhaps some of those below maybe required, for mechanical and cosmetic considerations:
