When overhauling the cylinder head assembly, replacing as many of the wear items as possible will simplify the reassembly and subsequent adjustments required to set up the valve gear correctly. The most vital items include valve guides, valves and valve springs. Check the working surfaces of the cam-shaft lobes for wear and/or pitting. renew if either of the aforementioned problems are present.
