When overhauling the cylinder head assembly, replacing as many of the wear items as possible will simplify the assembly and subsequent adjustments required to set up the valve gear correctly. The most vital items include camshafts, valve guides (very important to prevent smoky start-ups!), valves and valve springs.
In addition the cam-chain, guides and tensioner assemblies must also be in perfect (or near perfect) condition.
