Honda CL175 SCRAMBLER 1968 K0 USA

The CL175 introduced to replace the Cl160 in 1968, and ran through to 1969. The CB175 twin engine used from the exceedingly rare CB175KO was considerably more powerful then the outgoing CB160, in it’s K4 form put out a full 20bhp @ 10000rpm.
But the main improvement was the inclusion of a much need fifth cog.

This was the only “sloper” CL175 to be made, all subsequent CL175’s used the later upright engine with a full cradle frame. The first of these being the K3 in 1969/70.
At this point the electric starters were still being deleted from the CL range, but the K4,K5,K6 and the final K7 model had the self starter fitted for most markets, and had the full power 20bhp engine, all the CL175’s retained the twin leading shoe front brake from their road equivalents. The K4 model onwards all carried rev-counters, due to the high performance nature of the engine, that would spin happily past 11000rpm.
