This is a once use only item - the soft metal construction means that it spreads in the exhaust port when the headers are tightened to the head - creating a perfect seal. This though only happens once. When the headers are removed, and refitted they have to have new gaskets - this OE type preferably.

Gasket must be replaced when fitting the header pipe.

Perhaps some new nuts and washers would be easier to fit.
