These oil seals will wear and degrade over time. The linkages on the rear shock assembly are hard wearing areas of the machine and it is important to keep road salt, grit and moisture from doing their best to destroy the needle roller bearings and plain bushes.
It is always better to renew these than try and re-use the old seals and definitely more cost effective than replacing those expensive bearings and bushes!

A regular check of these oil seals is advisable

Sometimes its the components you can't see
that are the most important.

I rebuilt my suspension link arms and used new seals and washers simply for peace of mind.

You either do the job right, or not at all!
