The front forks are, after the engine, possibly the hardest working assembly on the machine. They take the bunt of road debris, they work constantly on two different planes, consistent vertical movement and front to rear stress, particularly challenging to bushes, guides and fork-tubes, when braking. The worse case scenario is of course accidental damage, the vulnerability of the assembly when hitting something more solid.
So, if you are refurbishing because the forks are worn, or because they look a little shabby, or scuffed and corroded or suffering accidental damage, or perhaps just renewing the handlebar and ancillary items, this component, and possibly some of those listed below maybe required.
