Fitting a new CONNECTING ROD/S is advisable when rebuilding the engine. The old item/s may well have worn and could allow a 'loose' little and big end bearing with potentially catastrophic engine damage and a most unpleasant noise!
Renew and avoid the possibility of 'scrapping' the engine. Order new bearings and gaskets at the same time.
