If these parts have been on and off the inlet stubs a few times during carburettor balancing, it may be wise to fit new blind plugs to avoid any chance of air leaking into the system causing the machine to run a weak mixture. This can cause poor running and potentially damage the piston and valves.

• Renewing these regularly when removed and refitted a few times is advisable
