Yamaha continued, if not exactly to dominate the Motocross scene, to be a major player with perhaps the most competitive 250cc class, when the MX250 was launched in 1974.
Undercutting the price from manufacturers like Husquavarna, and taking advantage of the younger riders already Yamaha savvy from their Junior racing days taking to the MX250, just like it was the MX125 or MX175 they probably raced in the previous season.
Yamaha used many of the more exotic components from their works race machinery on the 250, as they considered the class the most important one to be seen to be successful! As with there other ‘MX’ models, these machines are highly desirable today for classic twin shock competitions, where they continue to achieve good results in this highly competitive form of motorcycle sport.
