GS550 1977 (B) USA (E03)

The Suzuki GS550 was launched in June 1977 as part of the new GS family of DOHC four stroke machines, both twins and ‘Fours’. Its Air-cooled engine was beautifully engineered and gave a solid 49hp @ 9000 rpm. 

The GS achieved and enviable reputation for durability and smooth performance and with class leading styling was a huge success for the company.

Models were updated with twin front discs and single rear disc in 1978, with cast wheels replacing the spoke items. Interestingly those early GS550’s are commanding the highest collector prices today, and are undoubtedly the prettiest of the GS Four series.
