A direct replacement for the iconic XL500, this similar four valve thumper put out even more power and torque yet weighed almost the same. The 600 was even more successful than it’s 500 forbear, and went on for a full five year production run finally bowing out in 1987.

The air cooled single overhead camshaft engine however lives on in a Japan home market model, the CB400SS, a pretty looking 400 using an almost identical power plant.
