MT125 ELSINORE 1976 USA

Trail version of the CR125 Elsinore Moto-Cross model, the MT125 Elsinore was launched in 1974 for the North American market. In The face of stiff competition from Yamaha, this model had to be good, and it was, with a stylish Hi-line exhaust with chrome plated heat shield, a gutsy two stroke engine and that inimitable Honda style, the model sold well in the market for which it was designed. The silver metallic tank colour was retained through it’s two year production run, and adds in no small measure to it’s appeal. 

Interestingly Honda chose to call their newly announced production road racing 125, based on this engine the MT125R in 1977, this was Honda’s first ‘production’ race bike for over a decade, and also went on to much track success, the engine being in a higher state of tune than the CR125 Elsinore with around 28bhp @10500rpm.
