Launched in 1975, the MR175 Elsinore marked a serious attempt by Honda to break the stranglehold Yamaha enjoyed in the class they had almost made their own, the road legal competition moto-cross machine otherwise known as ‘Enduro’.
Based on the successful CR125 from the previous year, this slightly de-tuned road legal version sold well with it’s unusual, for Honda at any rate, green colour scheme. The following years model went back to the Honda norm with a red fuel tank, as did the last model in 1977.
As with most Moto-cross and enduro machinery of that period, this type of machinery commands good classic residuals in the USA, the market for which they were intended .
