Competition from Yamaha was fierce, but thre CR80 just kept evolving into a better and better machine over the years and still today is right up their with the best.

Honda like Yamaha know the importance of selling motorcycles to young competitors, as by their reasoning, are more likely to stay loyal to one make as they progress through the ranks, gaining confidence in one make of machine makes the customer less likely to switch makes, and that is as true today as back then when the first CR80 was announced.
