Although aimed primarily at the US trail bike market, the DT250 proved popular World-wide, it had a torquey two stroke single engine with a fine chassis, and handled well both on the tarmac and off-road. It was continuously developed, with this culminating in the monoshock chassis drawing on Yamaha grand prix machinery both race circuit and motocross.
