Yamaha YZ465 information
Launched in 1980, the YZ465 was largely well received, and gave the all dominant Maico, the then king of ‘The Open Class’ formula, something to think about. The engine was very torquey but soon ran out of power at higher revs.
Reliability was good overall, with a question marks on the fragility of the exhaust mounts.
Handling was described back then as ‘interesting’, but still race success’s demonstrate the overall ability of this classic mono-shock.
