Although the item is genuine Yamaha and not a supersession part number, it looks to be of recent manufacture (going by the modern packaging), i.e. not stock from the 1970s. The reason this is an issue for me is that the ball-end of the lever is hollow, not solid like the original version fitted to the bike when made. Ironically, I will now be fitting a cheaper pattern lever instead because, although not so well made, it has a solid ball-end like the original.
