Yamaha TA125 USA information
After so many club-men and professional racers had modified Yamaha’s 125cc road twins to go racing, the company finally launched it’s first 125cc production race bike in early 1974, the TA 125.
Based on the successful road machine the AS-3, with different porting and chrome lined bores, and other tuning modifications, including Hitachi CDI ignition the power jumped from 15BHP to a healthy 24BHP at 12500 rpm, and one the British 125cc championship that year.
The machine although highly successful ceased production in November 1974, and was the last Yamaha air cooled production race machine, and did not produce any more production 125cc race bikes for five years, when the TZ series were introduced.
