Fitting new steering head taper roller bearings will, so long as the centre stem is tightened correctly improve the handling and feel of the machine. The old bearings are subject to shock and wear, sometimes run dry and sometimes wet (only in this case with gritty sludge and water!)

Fit high quality taper bearings for best results

Make sure the correct grade of lubricating grease is applied
