Two of the fundamentals of engine health can all be found in the Crankshaft and piston assembly. The first is compression, a compression test will show the condition of the piston, piston rings and bore, assuming of course the cylinder-head has already been overhauled. The second is the condition of the con-rod and Crankshaft journal bearings along with the main Crankshaft bearings.
If, after carrying out the above fundamental tests and examinations, any parts found wanting may need to be renewed and replaced.
