Suzuki SP370 information
Launched in 1978 the Suzuki SP370 was Suzuki’s first four-stroke single cylinder machine since the 1950’s. It was both well made and good looking, it was however a little too expensive compared with the competition. The Yamaha XT500 for example cost no more than the SP370, but was a lot faster, and has since become a collectable icon!
A low power model was available in some countries, with just 17hp available. In Germany the model was fitted with a 22m German Bing carburettor instead of the 32mm Mikuni that the rest of the World enjoyed!
The air-cooled 369cc SOHC two-valve engine put out 25hp @7500rpm and the complete machine weighed in at 123kg dry.
By 1980 it had been replaced with the SP400, a similar machine but with a substantial and much needed power increase!
