Suzuki RS250 information
Launched in 1980 the RS250 was based on a mixture of RM and PE style chassis and the outgoing PE engine, de-tuned for trail use. The RS175 was launched at the same time.
The machine was a hit in the USA, the Worlds largest market for trail bikes. It was billed as a ‘Play Bike’ by the US press at the time, but based on the successful competition enduro PE model, was well specified and fairly expensive. Although built form the Suzuki ‘parts-bin’ this was a well-built and well co-ordinated motorcycle, with good mid-range and top end performance and fine handling.
Its six speed 246cc air-cooled two-stroke engine has both piston and reed valve controlled induction. The complete machine weighed 108kg.
