Suzuki GSX400 information

Suzuki GSX400

Released in Japan in 1979 this sporty but fragile DOHC four-valves per cylinder model put out a healthy 44hp @ 9500rpm, and weighing a relatively svelte 175kg was pretty quick by the standards of the day. It was styled similarly to its GSX250E stable mate, and both models were launched in Europe in 1980. This GSX400E replacing the old GS425 two valves per cylinder model.

The engine worked fine as a 250, but in it’s 400 form was over stretched, and it’s poor reputation for reliability made it unpopular in Europe.

A totally different GSX400F (Four) was released in 1981, also with a four-valve head.
