The problem with old Fuel taps is that they are usually completely worn out! This means they can leak or can seize, or can be completely blocked up with years of old petrol residue that has turned into 'varnish'!
It is possible to repair these, but rarely with a 100% successful result? Renewing guarantees 100% success and saves hours or even days of time trying to repair the un-repairable!
  • It may not be the cheapest but renewing the Fuel cock will be the easiest way to achieve 100% perfection!

First I bought a repair kit on ebay. With it I did not get the vacuum fuel tap tight. Then I bought - again on ebay - a replica. The replica was also not tight. Then I made a hybrid from the original petcock with the new gaskets and the new petcock. The tap was still not tight. Only then I bought this vacuum cock at CMS. Works perfect! This is why I tend to buy more and more parts at CMS. It's just better quality.

Finally found this difficult to locate fuel cock at CMS.
Should have tried there in the first place!
Used their great online parts finder tool, to ensure part was correct, before Ordering.
The part was then well packed and safely shipped to me in the UK.
Very happy to find this important part to complete my Tank Restoration project.
As good, or better, than new now!
    Thanks
    Nigel
