Renewing as many of the wear prone parts in the cylinder-head assembly will give a more satisfactory outcome.
Interfacing new parts with old will cause the new parts to wear prematurely and may lead to an unpleasant and noisy assembly. Renewing the old stretched bolts when refitting the head is also advisable to achieve perfect torque application settings.
TIP: Pay particular attention to the valve guides for wear - the prime cause for smoke from the exhaust on engine start ups!
