Extensive use of lightweight material’s like magnesium engine castings help achieve an all up weight of just 113kg. Combine this with 48bhp @ 9000rpm and 41nm of torque at 7500rpm, this very fast 400 enduro has been an unqualified sales success for Suzuki.
So much fun to ride, many have been converted to Super-moto machines with sports bike tyres and wider rims to suit. Suzuki now produces the DR-Z400SM road bike based very closely on this model, with street-legal lighting and one or two other niceties.
Clever design and intelligent use of lightweight materials internally and externally has produced one of the finest engines in it’s class, and has the highest specific power to weight ratio of any 400cc engine produced today.
