Cool, correct filtered air is only half the story for an engines requirements; the other half is unimpeded gas- flow to the throttle bodies. Both of these requirements are vital for the health and performance of the engine. Degradation, heat, and vibration induced cracks and ruptures on the Inlet tubes can all take a heavy toll on the air filter system.
When checking or refurbishing the air-filter assembly this component and perhaps some of those listed below maybe required, new fasteners may not be essential, but look nicer?
