Overhauling the Gear selector assembly in the transmission means renewing as many of the wear and damage prone components as possible. This will attain the best results; interfacing used parts with new will lead to premature wear of the new parts, and a less smooth, somewhat notchy Gear change. Thought should also be given to the Gear change control linkage at the same time.
