Careful inspection of the con-rod, crankshaft and piston assembly is a given when rebuilding the engine.
Hopefully replacement bearings and new piston-rings will be the only components required, along with the requisite gaskets and seals.
If the crank and/or the conrods have suffered damage (beyond the realms of a re-grind & oversize bearings) then renewal of all three of those parts is advisable.
Interfacing new components with old may cause the new parts to wear prematurely, become unbalanced and lead to a less than satisfactory outcome - the superb engine this part suits deserves only the very best!
