Introduced in 1975, the GL 1000 was a stunning technical achievement. The original was the worlds biggest, heaviest and second fastest bike available at the time (only the mighty Kawasaki Z1 was Faster).
Novel features included a liquid-cooled flat four engine, belt-driven overhead cams, shaft drive, triple disk brakes, under-seat fuel tank, counter-rotating alternator, two oil pumps and detachable back-up kick-start lever.

Stunning Detail for a 1:12 Scale Unit

I actually own a 1976 GL1000, so this model is very familiar to me. Minichamps has once again delivered a product with a level of faithful reproduction and detail not seen on other manufacturers' models, even in larger scale! This unit features moveable suspension, along with the expected steering movement and wheels that spin freely. Oh those wheels! I cannot stop looking at the fine detail of the rim and spokes. I own several other larger scale motorcycle models and often the execution of the spokes is somewhat lacking. Other excellent details include the radiator screen, tank striping, and Honda emblems on the tank and valve covers. The paint is also flawless. About the only thing missing is the sweet sound of the flat-four engine running. A must-have if you are a Gold Wing fan - or any vintage Honda motorcycle.
