The principal components that are likely to wear and suffer damage in the gear selector assembly are the selector forks themselves. When rebuilding the selector assembly, if possible replace all of the selector forks, shift shaft and drum at the same time to avoid new and old worn parts intermeshing, which may lead to premature wear of the new components.
