Refurbishing the carburettors, both externally, for cosmetic reasons, and mechanically to replace worn jets, weak springs and the other vital internal parts can be surprisingly cost effective - especially with a new set (if you can find one that is) for some models costing an eye watering amount.
Vapor blasting the carb body, taking care to ensure no blast medium is left on the inside surfaces, and sonic cleaning the parts that do not need replacement can bring an old carb set back to an almost new condition.
