During the course of a cylinder-head overhaul all the worn components associated with the valve train are better being renewed than reused.
Careful inspection of the camshaft lobes, rocker surfaces and pivot points will be useful - if only for reassurance that all is well?
It only takes the failure of one old part to undo all the work and expense already carried out.
Tip: Pay particular attention to the valve guides - the usual culprit for smoking exhaust on start-up. Renewing valves (and springs of course) without new guides may not be wise.
