Overheating engines can cost an awful lot more to repair than the cost of new replacement water-pump parts and ancillary components. Refurbish the water-pump before the over-heating does real mechanical damage, a warped cylinder-head for example?
Renew all the suspect parts at the same time, with carful inspection of the radiator and ancillary items, such as the thermostat, often the cause of of overheating, and avoid the potentially serious problems of an overheating engine.
