Fitting new guide bushes and retaining circlips whilst overhauling the front fork leg assembly will, as part of an overall renewal strategy of replacing all the critical bushes, possibly fork-tubes and a plethora of other associated wear-prone parts, will restore the precision of your forks and tighten up the damping qualities.
This happens by allowing the correct flow of fork oil through the damping holes, and not bypassing worn out bushes.

Renewing as many of the wear prone parts as possible will tighten up (in a good way!) the front fork action.
