Restore reliability in this important area of the engine by simply renewing this impossible to repair part when the plates have twisted and degraded and it is no longer holding any charge. At the same time it would be wise to replace other parts of this assembly to avoid compromising the reliability of the new parts when interfacing with old, worn items. Check the voltage regulator/rectifier which, if malfunctioning, can destroy a Battery within a few miles!
