The low revving nature and hi-torque of the rather lovely V-twin motor means there is little need to slip (therefore wear) the clutch. However, as already mentioned, it does have to transmit a lot of torque, and this in itself generates stress to the friction rings, pressure plates and clutch springs.
The sensible way to rebuild the clutch is to renew as many items of the assembly as you can afford - the more new parts, the longer the clutch life, especially long if treated with respect!
