Pocket Rocket

The air-cooled four-cylinder DOHC Kawasaki Z650 (KZ650 in the USA) was introduced in 1976 as the little brother of the Z1000-A1.

Designed by Z1 engineer, "Ben" Inamura, the unique mix of 500cc agility and 750cc performance made the Z650 incredibly successful and the model would remain in production until 1983. The engine possessed typical Kawasaki durability and even formed the basis of the Z750 Turbo. It was eventually superseded by the liquid cooled GPZ600.
