Yes - your eyes are not deceiving you; someone actually made a product called a SnowJob. And if you think that is absurd just look at the thing itself - what looks like a fibre glass body over a tracked chassis that you strapped a fearsome Kawasaki H2 Mach IV 750.
OK madness... but let's go deeper. It was actually sold by Kawasaki dealers in the USA, who encouraged you to take the wheels off the fastest accelerating motorcycle of its day and ride it on snow!
Quite apart from the cost which equates to $5000 in today’s money, the thing had a centre of gravity higher than an elephant on a cocktail stick plus we cannot recall a huge amount of fuel stations in the back woods of the Rocky Mountains for such a thirsty beast.
Steering was via a ski attached to the front wheel-less axle and the main body of the bike relied on a centrally located torsion bar with chain drive to a track on either side of the machine.
Manufactured for less than two years before the firm went bust, some SnowJobs do still survive mostly with 500cc and 750cc Kawasaki triples mounted on them.
We hope you enjoyed this seasonal madness and remember when you want to get serious again about your motorcycling, CMSNL is here – like the best festive fantasies … to make your dreams come true.
