Mike Palmgren is currently working on a Honda RS600 restoration. With 14 full restorations already on display at the Honda Collection Hall in Japan, this man knows everything about vintage Japanese motorcycles.
'When the Honda Racing Corporation built the RS600, they nickel-plated the foot peg mounts, the main rear engine mount, and the foot brake lever,' says Mike. 'Since there was some crash damage that had to be repaired, some parts had to be sent to the plater. Nickel is so tough however that I had to chemically remove the original nickel before I could send him the parts.'
'The original finish was more of a satin nickel, so rather than polishing them before the plating, I gave the parts a quick bead blast. Now the finish is uniform and looks as good as new!'
