First appeared in 1979, to compliment the other XT models in Yamaha’s range, using the same simple single overhead cam 2 valve technology as found in other XT models of that period. In fact part of their attraction then and in the modern XT250 counterparts is the use of simple air cooled engines that deliver enough power and torque to compliment their capable chassis promoting confidence for the novice rider, and still delivering a competent package to the more experienced rider.
