In truth this was never a serious off road proposition weighing in as it did at 185kg! It was though a very fast and handsome machine, really more of a style statement than an off-roader. The double overhead cam engine, the first ever put into mass-production for a motorcycle gave a very creditable 43bhp when launched directly at the US market in 1970.

This bike was the beginning of the end for the British motorcycle industry, making the BSA and Triumph twins of the day looking obsolete overnight!

The torsion bar valve springs and CV carburettors just cemented Honda’s reputation for high quality well engineered innovation, and as with most great motorcycles, the classic value of good original machines remains high.
