info

The ‘Mini Blade’ series of hyper sports 250’s were produced between 1986 and 1996.

This four cylinder 6 speed machine could rev to 18000.00 rpm, aided by precise valve timing of gear train driven camshafts, in true race engine style.
The original models gave 45bhp @ 15000 rpm, but due to a change in Japanese law, was reduced to 40bhp @ 14500rpm in 1994.

These were sold only to the Japanese market for the first few years of production, but in some countries where learners can ride any motorcycle up to 250cc regardless of power, the CBR250 proved very popular with grey importers, and prompted Honda to sell them officially into places like Australia.

Despite the high revs, these engines are petty much maintenance free, and can following the regular service schedule easily cover 100,000,00 plus km. That is over half a billion revolutions!

Honda, and in fact the other three manufacturers in Japan still produce high performance high revving 250’s for their home market, now all with 40bhp and following the styling trends of the naked retro. Honda’s contribution being the 250 Hornet, and still with that delicious gear driven cam train!
