The larger capacity of the Honda CM450 resulted in 47bhp when launched in 1982. This was serious performance, gained mainly from the use of a three valve head, unique at that time. But where the CM400 HONDAMATIK model had flopped, the CM450 with more power, although still down on the manual change model, succeeded.
Like the other CM series models, this both traditionally handsome and well built, and in it’s manual change form a seriously quick ride, don’t forget only a few years earlier you needed a 650 Triumph Bonneville to give up this kind of power. Indeed the classic values of these machines are going up, and with spares availability being better than many similar classic models from Honda, make a sensible classic Honda purchase.
