CB360 SPORT 1974 USA

info

A competent replacement for the out going CB350K4 model, the best selling Honda in the USA in the early 1970’s. Their were many reliability and build quality problems with the CB350, most of which were successfully addressed on the CB360. The most important being the slipper cam-chain tensioner replacing the fragile roller wheel, ensuring more accurate valve timing throughout the rev range, higher capacity trochoidal oil pump allowing a pressure fed transmission countershaft. Other changes included a 6th gear and roller main bearings.

The new tubular chassis was however a retrograde step, being less rigid than the original fabricated type.

So to round up, the CB360 was a more reliable machine then than the 350, but it did not need a 6th gear, and did not handle as well as the outgoing K4, and as with so many motorcycles of the period was slower than the model it replaced!
