The Header Gasket is a once use only item. The soft metal construction means that it spreads in the exhaust port when the headers are tightened to the head, creating a perfect seal. This though only happens once. When the headers are removed, and refitted they have to have new gaskets.
Gasket must be replaced when fitting the header pipe. Perhaps some new nuts and washers would be easier to fit.
