Make sure that the only air to enter the combustion chamber comes through the carburettors! If this seal is less than 100% effective, then air will enter between the manifold and the inlet port causing a weak mixture and unbalancing the carburettors.
Renewing all of these seals will help the engine run correctly and avoid the engine running too weak and therefor too hot!
