Since its shape is not a normal "O" it can't be just replaced by standard available O-rings. i.e. one side is flat while the top is round. It is a requirement to ensure absolute oil-proof closure of the two carter halfs of the Kawasaki two cylinder KZ 440 LTD engine.
More over it is in primary oil channel driving the oil towards the crank bearings and must thus sustain the oil pressure in this circuit.

So you can't short cut here by replacing it by a standard o-ring and it is 100% worth its value if you think what can happen if the oil loses its pressure at this point in the oil channel.
